Purpose, Audience, Author, and Acknowledgements
Purpose
Program participants will:
- Understand successful implementation of practical changes that improve
safety and reduce adverse events for hospitalized patients
- Realize the importance of issues of organizational and professional
culture in attempting to implement change
- Understand how to foster transparency and a "culture of
safety"
- Learn how to analyze the root causes of an adverse event, and
to transform that learning into gains in quality and safety
- Recognize the potential for preventing recurring problems through
process redesign
- Discuss hands-on examples of changes that have improved quality
and safety in hospitals in Michigan
Audience
This course is designed for clinician leaders (physicians, nurses, pharmacists,
other health professionals) and administrators (CEOs, COOs, QI department
